About

What We Believe

The truths we confess.

We invite all people to visit our church, regardless of their personal beliefs, histories, lifestyles, or other religious commitments. Those who join Grace Baptist Church as members, however, commit themselves to a robust confession of faith.

The ancient creeds

Standing firmly in the ancient Christian tradition, we accept the early church creeds as accurate statements of biblical doctrine. This includes the Apostles' Creed, the Athanasian Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Definition of Chalcedon.

The Five Solas

As heirs of the Reformation, we also affirm the "Five Solas":

  • Sola Scriptura: Scripture Alone
  • Sola Gratia: Grace Alone
  • Sola Fide: Faith Alone
  • Solus Christus: Christ Alone
  • Soli Deo Gloria: To the Glory of God Alone

Our Baptist confession

Finally, as a Baptist church, we accept a revised Baptist Confession of Faith (also known as the Second London Baptist Confession) as an accurate statement of our principles and require "substantial agreement" with this document as a condition for church membership.
